Last night the White House Correspondents’ Dinner saw comedian Michelle Wolf roasting Donald Trump and his administration in hilarious and appropriately savage fashion. Trump wasn’t there, as he couldn’t take the heat, and instead he held a pity-party rally for himself in Michigan. Sarah Huckabee Sanders did attend, and let’s just say that Wolf didn’t go easy on her. That’s when Huckabee Sanders’ predecessor Sean Spicer tried to step in. It didn’t go well for him.

Michelle Wolf spent roughly ninety seconds destroying Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and most of that time was spent calling out the fact that she spends her press briefings telling lie after lie after lie. It’s something that the reporters in the room during these briefings have been more hesitant to do, perhaps for fear of getting kicked out. In any case, Spicer didn’t take to kindly to it.

Sean Spicer tweeted “Tonight’s WHCD was a disgrace.” This prompted Michelle Wolf to quote Spicer, adding “Thank you!” At this point Spicer began attacking the White House Correspondents Association leadership for being “silent” about Wolf’s jokes, and demanding that they “respond” to… well, who knows. Spicer didn’t bother to spell out what he thought was supposed to have been inappropriate, or what he expected anyone in charge to do. Hours later, Spicer was still posting tweets aimed at various WHCA leaders, asking them why they wouldn’t do something about Wolf.

We’re guessing that Sean Spicer didn’t like Michelle Wolf calling out Sarah Huckabee Sanders for her constant lies on Donald Trump’s behalf, because it hit too close to home. Spicer used to tell constant lies when he held the job. In any case, Wolf won by simply thanking Spicer and moving on, even as Spicer was still howling at the moon about it hours later.
