Donald Trump has thirteen hour long meltdown
Donald Trump spent the general election insisting that Hillary Clinton lacked “stamina.” That claim held no water, as Clinton managed to continue campaigning even when she had pneumonia, even as Trump disappeared from the campaign trail a number of times without explanation. In hindsight it was classic Trump projection, as his time in office has revealed that he does very little work, and he indeed lacks stamina. But on Monday he tried to make up for it by staging a meltdown which lasted for a stunning thirteen hours.
Trump began his meltdown at 7:02am on Monday, ranting about “caravans” in Mexico, while demanding that Congress use a “nuclear option” to stop these caravans. No one could quite figure out what he meant, as there aren’t even as many as forty votes in the Senate for his most recent legislation, let alone enough for a majority. He then declared that “DACA is dead” because the Democrats didn’t do anything about DACA, one day after he had declared that he was unilaterally killing off DACA. But Trump was just getting warmed up.
He attacked CNN and NBC News for no particular reason, while defending Sinclair Broadcasting after it took heat for forcing every one of its local affiliates to read the same pro-Trump message over the weekend. Then Trump returned to ranting about Amazon, President Obama, the DOJ, the FBI, Honduras, Mexico, you name it. If this sounds like it must have taken some time, it did indeed.
By the time Donald Trump was angrily lying about his approval rating on Monday night, a full thirteen hours had passed since he’d begun ranting that morning. Rarely have we seen this kind of prolonged and sustained level of energy from Trump. He’s clearly more rattled and agitated than usual, and he thinks another shoe is about to drop very soon.
