Here’s the thing about Donald Trump Jr’s reported divorce
Donald Trump Jr and his wife are about to file the paperwork for getting divorced, according to inside sources close to the couple who spoke to notorious celebrity site Page Six. These kinds of things only interest me insofar as they relate to the political landscape, and in this case, how they relate to Donald Trump’s chaotically failing presidency. What stands out here are the reported details of why Trump Jr’s wife is supposedly leaving him, and they very much do relate to this collapsing administration.
Notably, Donald Trump Jr’s wife is reportedly fed up with him for the same kinds of behavior that’s led us to call him out, in particular his increasingly disturbing Twitter habits (link). He tried to use his young daughter as an intentionally divisive political prop in a Halloween tweet. More recently he attacked one of the survivors of the Stoneman Douglas school shooting.
We’ve suggested that his worsening Twitter antics were a sign he was cracking under the pressure of his father’s failing presidency and worsening criminal scandals, as the deterioration of his publicly visible behavior has corresponded with the unfolding of the Trump-Russia investigation. For instance, Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was arrested on October 30th, the first sign that people would in fact be going to prison in the scandal. Junior’s inappropriate tweet involving his daughter was posted the next day.
We’ve all had people in our lives tell us they’re going to get divorced, only for it to end up not happening, so we’ll see what happens here. And, really, it’s between them as far as I’m concerned, except as it relates to the political landscape. But if Donald Trump Jr is spiraling out of control so swiftly and severely that his wife doesn’t even want to wait until the end of this presidency for the sake of appearances, it suggests Junior is really far gone. I think he’ll end up in prison for conspiracy against the United States. Does he think he’s going to prison? Does his wife think he’s headed there?
