Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia probe is now officially a murder investigation

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

For the past several months, Palmer Report and some others have been tracking the trail of prominent Russians who have mysteriously died during the course of the Trump-Russia scandal and investigation, many of whom had close connections to the scandal. Nearly all of these people have been Russian nationals or Ukrainian nationals, raising the question of whether their deaths would ever be properly investigated. But now we have confirmation that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is indeed investigating at least one of those deaths.

Former MI6 agent Christopher Steele, the author of the Trump-Russia dossier, has been profiled in a lengthy new piece by the New Yorker. Dozens of paragraphs into it, it’s confirmed that Mueller is indeed investigating the death of at least one person in connection with the dossier. This person is not identified, beyond spelling out that it’s not former Russian FSB agent Oleg Erovinkin (link). So let’s talk about what this means: Robert Mueller is now running a murder investigation as part of his Trump-Russia probe.

This means that the conspiracy between Donald Trump and the Russian government is so vast and so ugly that the investigator in charge believes there’s credible evidence that it involves murder. No one was murdered in Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal and coverup. No one was murdered in Warren G. Harding’s Teapot Dome scandal. So this represents yet another unfortunate milestone spelling out just how uniquely treacherous the Trump-Russia scandal is in United States history. So what happens when or if Mueller finds the murderer?

Circumstantial evidence in most or all of the mysterious deaths connected to the Trump-Russia scandal has always pointed back to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his underlings. Is Robert Mueller planning to get a U.S. grand jury to indict Putin for murder? Obviously, he couldn’t be brought to trial. But it would be a stunning turn of events. And yet we now know that Mueller is indeed investigating an alleged murder that Putin probably ordered.
