Donald Trump has meltdown over domestic abuse scandal

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Yesterday, Donald Trump turned the Rob Porter domestic abuse and John Kelly coverup scandal into a whole new kind of problem when he publicly and emphatically took Rob Porter’s side during a press conference. Trump only seemed to care that Porter was proclaiming his innocence (even though he resigned over the scandal), and made a point of repeatedly wishing Porter well, while making no mention of the alleged victims or the issue of domestic violence. Today, Trump made it even worse.

We all know what’s going on here. Trump is a serial abuser of women, and unlike Porter, Trump has flat out admitted it on tape. Yet Trump still insists that he didn’t sexually assault any of the women who have come forward, despite his own “grab em by the…” confession. Because Trump can’t admit his own crimes, he feels compelled to take the side of someone like Porter, and he also feels compelled to insist that we believe everyone in Porter’s position or Trump’s position.

This morning Trump posted this tweet, complete with a missing apostrophe in the first word and verbiage which sounds like a bad attempt at poetry: “Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”

Of course Donald Trump is glossing over the fact that, while Porter was never convicted of domestic violence, a judge did see enough evidence to grant one of his ex-wives a restraining order. So due process was involved. Worse for Trump, he now appears to be taking the side of every man who’s been accused of anything by any woman. Next he’ll be siding with Harvey Weinstein. Trump is clearly obsessed with this. How far will he take it?
