Nikki Haley throws a fit about the Grammys
Here’s the thing about working for an illegitimate president who’s historically unpopular and on his way to prison for treasonous crimes: you’re going to come out on the wrong side of pop culture most of the time. Don’t tell that to Donald Trump’s UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, who threw a fit after the Grammy Awards devoted a comedic segment to the anti-Trump book “Fire and Fury” which included an appearance by Hillary Clinton.
The internet went wild with glee after various musicians and celebrities took turns during the Grammys reading some of the most absurd passages from the insider book, including Clinton. However, not quite everyone was happy with the segment. Nikki Haley tweeted “I have always loved the Grammys but to have artists read the Fire and Fury book killed it. Don’t ruin great music with trash. Some of us love music without the politics thrown in it.” Wait, huh?
Trump has an approval rating of 32%. He’s being investigated for having rigged the election in his favor. More Americans want him in prison than in the Oval Office. Was Haley truly not expecting the Grammy Awards to take a shot at him? In fairness to Haley, the book’s author Michael Wolff insinuated this week – without providing any real evidence – that Trump and Haley are currently having an affair. So in that sense Haley might take the book more personally than some of Trump’s other advisers.
But still, come on. This was a comedy segment led by host James Corden, a comedian. There were no overt political statements made during the segment. Nikki Haley seems to think she’s going to run for president someday. But she’s going to have a hard time pulling that off if she keeps revealing that she has skin as thin as that of her boss.
