As his world collapses, Donald Trump launches into bizarre late night rant

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3360 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has begun cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, meaning he’s flipped on Donald Trump. FBI Director Christopher Wray has stood his ground and won against Trump’s recent attempt at firing FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, meaning Trump has no muscle left and he knows it. Melania just bailed on Trump’s upcoming overseas trip in the wake of new affair allegations. So how is Trump responding to his world collapsing in on him? Not particularly well.

Around 11:00pm on Tuesday night, Trump began ranting about text messages and cellphones and other people who have also had affairs. He tweeted “Where are the 50,000 important text messages between FBI lovers Lisa Page and Peter Strzok? Blaming Samsung!” This is a wild misrepresentation of a minor storyline that’s a non-scandal to begin with, which we won’t even waste time picking apart, beyond the fact that the so-called President of the United States is now ranting about a cellphone company. Then it got worse.

Just thirteen minutes later, Trump tweeted “Cryin’ Chuck Schumer fully understands, especially after his humiliating defeat, that if there is no Wall, there is no DACA. We must have safety and security, together with a strong Military, for our great people!” This appears to be a semi-coherent response to the fact that Schumer essentially tricked Trump by agreeing to reopen the government, only to quickly take funding for Trump’s mythical border wall off the table. It means Trump has lost the negotiation, and he’ll either have to give in on DACA or get blamed for yet another government shutdown in three weeks.

In any case, this is how Donald Trump is responding to the fact that most of his own people are either refusing his orders or cutting plea deals against him. Instead of dealing with the devastating developments that could mean the end of his presidency, his marriage, and his freedom, he’s instead ranting about Chuck Schumer and Samsung.
