Haiti government unloads on Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has created so many international incidents during the year in which he’s illegitimately occupied the White House, it’s difficult to recite them all from memory. His latest incident came yesterday when he said he didn’t want immigrants coming to the United States from places like Haiti because they’re “shithole countries” and that he wants immigrants from (whiter) places like Norway. Now the government of Haiti is taking Trump to task and demanding answers.

After Trump’s racist remark took over the news cycle on Thursday, NBC News contributor Yamiche Alcindor tweeted this development: “I just talked to Haiti’s Ambassador to the United States Paul Altidor who said he and the Haitian government ‘vehemently condemn’ President Trump’s comments which they believe are ‘based on stereotypes.’ ‘Either the president has been misinformed or he is miseducated.” She then added this: “Haiti’s US Ambassador Paul Altidor tells me Haiti’s government has formerly summoned a US official to explain Trump’s comments to Haiti’s officials. ‘Haitians fought along US soldiers in the revolutionary war and we continue to be great contributors to American society,’ he said.”

Trump, who speaks on a fourth grade level and tweets in even more infantile fashion, probably doesn’t even know what words like “miseducated” mean. Conor Finnegan of ABC News tweeted that “Haiti summoned top US diplomat over Trump’s “shithole” comments. Currently no ambassador, so Charge d’Affaires Robin Diallo met w/ Haitian president.” That’s right, the Trump administration is such a disaster that it doesn’t even have a U.S. Ambassador to Haiti.

This is stunning development. Haiti is an ally in close proximity to the United States. Donald Trump has created such an embarrassing international incident here that the government of Haiti is making the uncharacteristic move of publicly unloading on the President of the United States. Then again, Haiti seems to feel the same way about Trump that the vast majority of Americans do.
