Donald Trump surrogate calls for violence against Trump’s detractors

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has infamously called for violence against everyone from Hillary Clinton to the media, and he’s somehow gotten away with it. Now that the violent thug is illegally occupying the office of President of the United States after having conspired with Russia to rig the election, his advisers and surrogates appear to believe they can get away with anything they want as well. Now one of them is calling for specific acts of violence against Trump’s detractors.

Former Milwaukee Sheriff David A. Clarke has been a prominent surrogate for the Trump campaign and the Trump administration. Here’s what he tweeted on Saturday: “BREAKING NEWS! When LYING LIB MEDIA makes up FAKE NEWS to smear me, the ANTIDOTE is go right at them. Punch them in the nose & MAKE THEM TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD. Nothing gets a bully like LYING LIB MEDIA’S attention better than to give them a taste of their own blood.”

Some might have interpreted this as mere metaphor if not for the fact that Clarke included a doctored photo of himself kicking a CNN reporter in the head while Donald Trump assists. In this context there is little question that Clarke is indeed calling for literal violence against liberals. This kind of incitement to violence sounds an awful lot like a crime to us, and as a former Sheriff, he would know. It’s also a clear violation of Twitter’s terms of service. But let’s talk about what Clarke is trying to distract from here.

Yesterday, several major news outlets reported that the FBI had seized David Clarke’s emails (link). Instead of trying to dispute the reporting on a factual or evidentiary basis, Clarke is instead responding by calling for specific acts of violence against those who reported it. Next he’ll probably call for violence against us because we wrote this article. If you feel like reporting Clarke’s violent tweet to Twitter for violation of terms of service, you can find it here.
