Donald Trump goes berserk about Vanity Fair

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This week Vanity Fair posted a video in which a number of its writers inexplicably made fun of Hillary Clinton in infantile and sexist fashion for no apparent reason. The backlash was immediate and widespread, with a quite a number of readers announcing they were canceling their print subscriptions in disgust. Now the magazine is partially backing down from its stunt. This has predictably sent Donald Trump into a rage, and he’s interjecting himself into the controversy in semi-coherent fashion.

Late on Thursday morning, Trump decided to join the fray in typically late fashion. He tweeted “Vanity Fair, which looks like it is on its last legs, is bending over backwards in apologizing for the minor hit they took at Crooked H. Anna Wintour, who was all set to be Amb to Court of St James’s & a big fundraiser for CH, is beside herself in grief & begging for forgiveness!” As per usual, it’s somewhat difficult to figure out what Trump is talking about, both due to his poor phrasing and his poor grasp of the relevant facts.

Although the two magazines are part of the Condé Nast family, Anna Wintour is in charge of Vogue, not Vanity Fair. It’s unclear if Trump is legitimately confused about who’s who, or if he purposely tried to drag Wintour into an unrelated discussion just so he could attack yet another woman. It’s also worth noting that this is the second consecutive day in which Trump has skipped his usual pre-dawn Twitter meltdown and instead waited to tweet until later in the day. Is he falling apart so badly that he’s no longer an early riser?

In the meantime, it should probably be pointed out that Hillary Clinton has yet to say a word about the sexist and demeaning Vanity Fair video in question. She’s the one being unfairly attacked, but she’s staying above the fray. Instead, the infant who rigged the election against her is jumping in to play the victim.
