James Comey wants you to help save the FBI from Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump, with his failed presidency in ruins and his criminal scandals close to taking him down, is now trying to finish off the FBI before it can finish exposing his crimes. It’s not enough that Trump illegally fired FBI Director James Comey earlier this year to try to derail the Trump-Russia investigation. Now Trump is trying to ruin everyone at the FBI who can testify against him. Comey has had enough, and he’s now asking Americans to help save the FBI from Trump’s treasonous treachery.

In the months since James Comey joined Twitter, he’s only tweeted periodically, and even then he usually only speaks through historical quotes. That changed this week, however, when Trump dishonestly targeted FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and FBI lawyer James Baker for extinction. Comey’s friend Benjamin Wittes posted this on Twitter on Saturday: “The President is impugning the integrity of the FBI by attacking two honorable public servants: Jim Baker and Andy McCabe. I just donated $1,000 to the FBI Agents Association in their names. I urge others to give as well and tweet that you did so.” Remarkably, Comey retweeted it.

James Comey has largely avoided publicly criticizing Donald Trump, presumably because he’s a witness in the ongoing obstruction of justice case against Trump. But now that Trump is trying to destroy the entire FBI as we know it, and not merely trying to destroy Comey’s own career, he’s coming out swinging.

On Friday, Comey tweeted this direct shot at Trump: “Sadly, we are now at a point in our political life when anyone can be attacked for partisan gain. James Baker, who is stepping down as FBI General Counsel, served our country incredibly well for 25 years & deserves better. He is what we should all want our public servants to be.” If you’re looking for the FBI Agents Association donation link, you can find it here.
