Now that he’s finally passed his first piece of legislation, and the Republicans in Congress are blowing smoke up his backside (until they no longer need him anymore), Donald Trump suddenly thinks he’s king of the world. He’s still angry, miserable, and tweeting resentful garbage, but he does appear to believe he’s somehow succeeding despite being the most unpopular U.S. president in the history of polling. Now he’s trying to go full dictator, but he’s predictably doing it in the stupidest way possible.

Trump has gotten rid of the longtime design of the official presidential gold coin, in favor of one that’s all about him. He’s done away with the presidential seal in favor of his own signature. He’s gotten rid of “E Pluribus Unum” and replaced it with his own divisive campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again.” If this sounds like something out of The Onion, it’s actually being reported by the Washington Post (link). Yes, this is somehow really happening.

It’s a sign of just how narcissistic Donald Trump is by nature, and how little respect he has for the sanctity of the office, which is supposed to bigger than he is. It’s also a sign of just how small-time and stupid Trump is being. He currently occupies the office of President of the United States. He is for the moment, until he’s inevitably ousted for his theft of the election, the second most powerful man in the world behind his boss Vladimir Putin. He can do a lot of things and get away with it all.

So what’s he focused on? Small time nonsense like this egomaniacal redesign of the presidential challenge coin. It’s similar in scope to how he wastes his time sitting around tweeting garbage at people all day instead of doing anything with the job. It’s his weakness, and it’s part of the reason he’ll be defeated.
