This weekend, the fiancee of Donald Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos all but confirmed that Papadopoulos has implicated Steve Bannon as part of his plea deal in the Trump-Russia scandal. Multiple major news outlets have since confirmed that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is indeed targeting Bannon in his Trump-Russia investigation. Bannon made a public appearance on Monday night, and it was abundantly clear that the pressure is getting to him.

Steve Bannon appeared at a rally in support of Alabama Senate candidate and accused child molester Roy Moore on Monday. Bannon has never been known to have an ounce of tact, but his performance was grotesque and unhinged even by his standards. Bannon started off by bragging about the elite university he attended, while mocking MSNBC host Joe Scarborough (who wasn’t even in attendance) for having attended the University of Alabama. That’s right, Bannon traveled to Alabama and tried to win over people in Alabama by insulting Alabama. Then he made things much worse.

Ivanka Trump famously condemned Roy Moore by saying there’s a “special place in hell” for people who abuse children. Bannon used the Moore rally to assert that “there’s a special place in hell for Republicans who should know better,” a clear attack on Ivanka. After Bannon finished publicly telling Donald Trump’s daughter to go to hell, he turned around and predicted that the Republican Congress will oust Trump after the tax bill process is complete.

Steve Bannon looked physically ill and sounded completely rattled as he ranted away during the Roy Moore rally in unhinged fashion. It’s not as if Bannon has ever needed a reason to say controversial and inappropriate things. But this was over the top even for him, and it’s become abundantly clear that the Trump-Russia investigation has him more than a bit rattled.
