Donald Trump tries to attack British Prime Minister Theresa May, accidentally attacks some other woman instead

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

On Wednesday morning Donald Trump retweeted a series of racist videos from a British white supremacist hate group. This led British Prime Minister Theresa May to issue a press release condemning Trump’s actions, calling his retweets “wrong.” It was inevitable that Trump would end up lashing out at May in response, and sure enough, on Wednesday evening, he tried to attack her on Twitter. We say “tried” because he ended up accidentally attacking some other Theresa instead.

Donald Trump tweeted “Theresa @theresamay, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!” There were two problems here. First, that’s an absurdly inappropriate way for the President of the United States to publicly address his nation’s closest ally. Second, the @theresamay account on Twitter belongs to a random woman named Theresa Scrivener, who has taken her account private.

Trump ended up deleting the errant tweet, but not until Theresa Scrivener had been flooded with mistaken replies to his tweet. He then tweeted “@Theresa_May, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!” (link). In other words, he thinks it’s just fine to publicly attack the Prime Minister of Great Britain in this manner; he only deleted it because he accidentally attacked the wrong woman.

It was always inevitable that during one of his moments of rage, Donald Trump would try to start World War III on Twitter. It’s just surprising that he’s trying to start World War III against Great Britain. This comes at the end of a day in which Trump also used his Twitter account to falsely accuse MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Scarborough of murdering a woman. It’s clear he’s not taking the news well that Michael Flynn has decided to cut a plea deal against him.
