Former CIA Director tells Donald Trump to go to hell

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has managed to offend, outrage, and alienate just about everyone in the United States intelligence community who’s remotely competent. We’ve seen one prominent intel voice step forward after another to rip Trump over his cluelessness, his corruption, and his subservience to Russia. Now the former Director of the CIA is emphatically telling Trump off in no uncertain terms.

General Michael Hayden is the former CIA Director and the former NSA Director. Despite having spent most of his career working to keep secrets, he’s now lambasting Trump for having attacked freedom of the press. Trump tweeted “Fox News is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!” Let’s just say that Hayden was less than happy.

Hayden responded to Trump’s berserk tweet with “If this is who we are or who we are becoming, I have wasted 40 years of my life. Until now it was not possible for me to conceive of an American President capable of such an outrageous assault on truth, a free press or the first amendment.” It’s worth noting that Hayden still has inside connections to the CIA, and he’s previously used them to try to expose Trump’s antics.

For instance, after Donald Trump claimed two weeks ago that Russia didn’t meddle in the election and that the election and that the U.S. intel community was simply wrong, General Hayden fired back. He tweeted “CIA just told me: The Dir stands by and has always stood by the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment entitled: Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent U.S. Elections. The intelligence assessment with regard to Russian election meddling has not changed.” So it’s not only the former CIA Director who thinks Trump is an idiot; the current CIA Director Mike Pompeo appears to feel the same way.
