CNN gets last laugh after being attacked by Donald Trump

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s attacks on the media are nothing new. In fact, his attacks on CNN in particular have become nothing short of infamous. But when he decided to slam the cable news network in the midst of what should have been a restful Thanksgiving weekend, CNN decided to fire back directly at him. Suffice it to say that, by Trump’s own quantifiable standards, CNN ended up getting the last laugh.

Trump tweeted “Fox News is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!” As Palmer Report reported earlier, this was part of a coordinated and near-simultaneous attack on CNN International on the part of Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin (link). But that’s when CNN decided to fight back.

Just minutes later, the official CNN Communications account on Twitter replied to Donald Trump: “It’s not CNN’s job to represent the U.S to the world. That’s yours. Our job is to report the news.” CNN included the hashtag #FactsFirst along with an emoji of an apple. The apple was part of CNN’s new marketing slogan about an apple being an apple, no matter how many times the propaganda outlets (read: Fox News) might try to tell you that an apple is a banana. CNN’s response was clearly more clever than Trump’s attack to begin with, but as we know, Trump measures these things based on likes and retweets – so let’s check the scorecard.

At the time of publication of this article, Donald Trump’s original tweet has 68,000 likes and 19,000 retweets. Meanwhile CNN’s response to Trump has 115,000 likes and 43,000 retweets. In other words, even by Trump’s own standards, CNN clearly won.
