Donald Trump is out of gas

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

During the course of his nearly two week Asia trip, we all believed Donald Trump wasn’t posting any of his usual boorish tweets because his staff was there to intervene twenty-four hours a day. When he did have one jarring Twitter meltdown during the trip, we all further assumed that it was because he had finally found a way to get away from his staff for a moment. Now that he’s returned home, we’re looking at a different story.

The Donald Trump who returned from the Asia trip is not the same Donald Trump who left for the trip. Since he’s gotten home, he hasn’t raced onto Twitter to begin tweeting nonstop unfiltered garbage like we were all expecting. Instead he’s largely been passive. He’s been tweeting his usual complaints about how the Democrats won’t do what he wants and such. But the fiery and bullying tweets have mostly vanished.

Trump did take one shot at Al Franken, but even that seemed half hearted on his part. Trump just doesn’t seem to have any of his usual defiant fire. The question is why he’s out of gas. When he made his first public appearance after returning from his Asia trip, he looked and sounded like hell. The trip appeared to have taken a severe toll on him. While he was on the trip, the news surfaced that his son Donald Trump Jr had been coordinating with WikiLeaks throughout the general election. He also met with Vladimir Putin while on that trip, and that probably didn’t go well.

So now we wait to see if a withering Donald Trump has been permanently broken by the events of the past two weeks, or if he’s only temporarily out of gas. On the one hand, if he’s given up hope and his spirit is broken, it may make his ouster easier. On the other hand, if he does resume tweeting toxic self-incriminating garbage, he could end up ousting himself.
