State Department tells Elon Musk to shove it

We've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.

Elon Musk has sent an email to every federal government employee, demanding that they each reply with bullet points about the work they’ve done over the past week. Musk then bragged on Twitter that anyone who fails to reply will be fired. This is obviously legally unenforceable (even before getting to the part where Musk isn’t President), and there’s already widespread pushback.

The leadership at the State Department has told its employees not to reply to Musk’s email. This means an entire federal government agency is telling Musk to take his attack on the federal government and shove it.

Anyone who’s “fired” by Musk over this email is going to be able to get the courts to reinstate their job pretty quickly. The real upshot is that Musk has spent a month incompetently failing to make much headway, and getting shot down in court repeatedly. Earlier today Trump made a post whining about how Musk isn’t being aggressive enough. Now Musk has responded with this desperate email stunt, which merely sets him up for more failure. Musk keeps going out further on a limb. How much longer before it snaps and Trump fires him?

It's been a tough week, a tough month, a tough year. For all of us. But the fight goes on. Because we know how important this is. Because we care. Because we're the ones who fight. It's you and me. It has been for a decade. And I'm never backing down. But Palmer Report does have operating expenses. And in this uncertain time, I truly need your help. For that reason I've launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. I'm asking you to contribute what you can to our GoFundMe Page or our PayPal Page, both of which accept debit and credit cards. Thank you.
