Here comes the pain
Who remembers MAGA clutching their pearls and donning sackcloth and ashes over the price of eggs? Well, the average price of eggs in the United States today is $4.95 a dozen and climbing. In some places, like California, eggs are as high as $9.17 a dozen.
Now, I know your average MAGA doesn’t give a crap about the pain of other people, so for MAGAs who don’t eat eggs, it’s important to understand that the price of eggs drives up the cost of other foods as well. Eggs are in lots of things. But even vegan alternatives to products that otherwise have eggs in them will also go up. There’s no escaping it. But of course, veganism isn’t exactly common in MAGA anyway. I’m just rubbing it in, just in case. So much for Trump’s promise to bring the cost of groceries down.
Now, I’m perfectly aware that, as with other leaders, presidents of the United States ordinarily have little or nothing to do with inflation inside their own country. But Trump appears to be hellbent on proving that it’s possible. Toward that end, there’s a new tariff in town. In his drive to “Make America Great Again,” Trump is now threatening to place a 25% tariff on imported cars. Thanks to Trump, America could very well become the most expensive place on earth to live.
So why is the MAGA toad-god Donald Trump so tariff obsessed? Trump believes that the mere threat of higher tariffs from the world’s largest economy will compel other nations to bend to his will. Trump understands perfectly well that tariffs are bad for the cost of living for average Americans. Trump doesn’t give a crap about that — he and his billionaire buddies are doing just fine, thanks — this is all about Trump consolidating power. He’s going to go ahead and impose his tariffs anyway. The suckers who voted for him will soon feel the pain.
Unfortunately, very few MAGAs will make the connection — at first. But Trump always finds a way to blame the Democrats for higher prices. Trump refers to high prices today as “Biden inflation.” Of course, that’s going to become harder to do as time wears on and it becomes more and more obvious, even to idiots like MAGAs, that something is definitely not right with Trump. By then the damage will have been done.
Of course, in the background, like unexploded ordnance, looms the menace of global climate change. As the American economy gets worse thanks to Trump, the deteriorating climate conditions will provide their own surprises. Welcome to interesting times, compliments of the MAGA toad-god. I only wish it just affected him and the morons who voted for him — and no one else.
