Pete Hegseth coverup?
Pete Hegseth, one of Donald Trump’s more sordid nominees, has been accused of sexual assault, as you know. That alone should be enough for the man to be disqualified. I believe women. The GOP does not. It remains a mystery why so many women continue to vote for a political party that can’t stand them. Yes, this is one of life’s more perplexing mysteries.
But there is more going on with Hegseth’s nomination. Some Democrats are crying foul and speaking about a potential coverup. “Appearance of a cover-up.” Democrats say there are gaps in the information on Hegseth that the FBI provided them. The New York Times says some Democrats are very concerned about Hegseth’s confirmation hearing, scheduled for Tuesday going forward.
That’s because of the bare-bones information provided to them. Hegseth, as you know, faces accusations for his treatment of women, his ability to lead, and his drinking. Some Democrats say the information they themselves found appears nowhere in the FBI report. And they’re saying this information is possibly about ADDITIONAL allegations against Hegseth,
Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal said that the information these Democrats have is “damning” for Mr. Hegseth. But the information in the FBI report is so scant Blumenthal did say i”it gives the appearance of a cover-up.”
Is this Brett Kavanaugh all over again? You, of course, remember the THAT FBI investigation which was not so much an investigation as a glowing endorsement for Kavanaugh, which left out significant portions of information that, had said information been IN there, might have kept Brett OFF of the court.
This is a serious job for which Hegseth is being considered. His background — what we know of it is so far — is monstrous, a collage of disrespect against women and colleagues, and should not under any circumstances be dismissed. The man is accused of sexual assault, trying to grab and dance with strippers while drunk as a skunk — it seems tender is NOT the night for Mr. Hegseth. ALCOHOL benders, however, just may just be.
This man has been nominated to lead the PENTAGON. This heavy-duty job requires lots of responsibility, and the ref flags already appearing in his background are like a neon sign with the word incompetent blinking continuously. I trust the Dems to do the right thing. If there is additional information or things left out, the Democrats will give them.
