The righteous and the wicked

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

My gosh, friends and readers, this world can often be such an upside-down, topsy-turvy whirlwind, can it not? I grew up reading and dreaming, where books were my constant companions, as Elon is Donald Trump’s. I read about all of them – the beautiful and the wicked.

I never thought, ever, in my rose-colored glasses of youth, that this country would ever elect one of the wicked – a psychopathic madman to the presidency. In fact, had anyone suggested such a thing to me, I’d have laughed — loudly.

But time marches on, and things change. Yes, Trump was elected, but by very small margins (although the media would have you think differently). Already, things are falling apart for the GOP. If you doubt that even a little, allow me, if you will, to demonstrate the evidence that the GOP is in tatters.

Trump is allowing a giggling little Internet troll to make decisions for him. He is also lost in the breakdown of his brain as he muses about invading Panama.

The GOP was forced to turn to Democrats to avoid a government shutdown. As a result, they are already bickering among themselves, like hyperactive squirrels, as they demonstrate they have no idea what they’re doing.

Donald Trump has admitted it’d be hard to bring down grocery prices, promptly breaking one of his campaign promises. The GOP is also fighting about what lucky person will get to be the House Speaker. This fight will go on indefinitely, as do all Republican quarrels.

On CNN on Sunday, one of the GOP’s own Tennessee Rep, Tim Burchett, actually called out his own party, suggesting they’re not serious about passing a budget.

In the meantime, many Republicans are reportedly quite worried about how Trump will govern and whether he’ll be able to move his agenda forward. The fear is permeating from Republicans like dripping perspiration, and everyone sees it.

Donald Turmp’s favorability ratings are cratering, and he has not even taken office yet.

On top of all these messes, the GOP is now being mocked on social media. All sorts of memes are being passed around, the funniest of which is showing Elon Musk taking the oath of office.

In short — it isn’t good. For the GOP, things are going worse than we ever could have anticipated. If the GOP were a boat, they;d be long capsized by now..

So yes, our world—our country—is often topsy-turvy. Sometimes, it feels like we’re on an unending conveyor belt where lines blur, and we must share the ride with many different types of people, so many faces, places, shapes, of politicians. The beautiful and the wicked.

However, one thing that does not change is activism. When we take stock of what a mess the GOP has ALREADY made, it should make us see more clearly and function more soundly. Because we know we where we are and who our better angels are. We also know we’re on the side of beauty, not wickedness — the right side of history.
