Democrats make moves

Typically after Democrats lose an election, the media likes to portray the party as being in disarray – with the party’s various flanks at odds with each other over what went wrong. While losing an election is never a good thing, regardless of how high it may be on the pecking order, that hasn’t really been happening, with the party closing ranks rather quickly in the transition of leadership roles.

Rather than run again as the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler passed on the role to Jamie Raskin – giving him a ringing endorsement. Among other things, Raskin used to head the House Oversight Committee, where he fought back successfully against Rep. James Comer’s clown show of an investigation against Hunter Biden.

While Donald Trump continues to dig up the worst suited people for pretty much anything to fill his cabinet, Democrats are picking some high-ranking fighters to lead the resistance against the worst parts of his agenda, people who actually care about the Constitution and are well-versed in the kinds of attacks Republicans have planned over the next two years. The next step is flipping the House and Senate in 2026 and taking majorities in both houses of Congress – something to get started on this year with special elections.
