The GOP’s achilles heel
Lessons learned. What does that mean in politics? This means that when we learn these lessons, we receive more information about the ones we fight for – and against. And in the last couple of weeks, we’ve learned a valuable lesson, have we not? Let’s break this down.
When Trump first ran, many laughed when Marco Rubio went from opposing Donald Trump to acquiescing in the blink of an eye. He endured much ridicule, but… Look at him now — Nominated for Secretary of State.
Tulsi. She took a lot of teasing when she started living on Fox. . Look at her now. She has been nominated for director of national intelligence.
Peter Navarro.
Navarro went to Prison for Trump. Many, including this writer, questioned why. Why does — Would anyone DEGRADE himself so much? As it turned out, the answer was right in front of our noses.
Power.
Power is the force that destroys. Power is the ONE thing — the only thing — Republicans love and they adore it far more than Donald Trump.
All the sycophants, the provocateurs, the weaklings, and the silly — are now getting what they probably regard as their rewards for having to put up with the unmitigated crap from Donald Trump that they have.
So now Trump moves them around the board, placing this pawn here and that one there, moving them up and down, diagonally and horizontally, quickly, with the casual contemptuousness of the criminal mind.
Power destroys; yes, it does. Power corrupts. Power invades the skin, it beckons, and it winks; it is a wolf sitting quietly in the minds of the easily led,at first no more than a blurry, out of focus shape, which then becomes a metamorphosis , turning into a grinning, vicious beast, all too happy to sink it’s teeth into another weak-kneed victim.
That very aphrodisiac—power—is precisely why we will win the war. Thankfully, Democrats do not yearn for power like the GOP does.
We do what we do to help, care, and save.
But the GOP has given themselves away. We know their Achilles heel. It’s not Donald Trump! It’s not even close.
It’s power. Only power.
So, how do we fight Trump for the next four years? By taking away his power. By enabling him to lose as many battles as possible.
By reducing him from an omnivorous threat machine to a lame duck quacking dazedly into the night, a political mirage, a fading and flickering shadow, and a horrible decision-maker.
We undercut him with disdain, determination, and directness — direction meaning by telling and showing the American people what a loser sits in the White House.
Lessons are often learned at a cost. Not this one. For us, this lesson emboldens us. We know what the GOP is and what it wants, and we know—and have always known—who we are and what want. We will get it too..
