STOP THE NORMALIZATION
The media all but handed the office of the Presidency to Donald Trump—a gift to him, with a little bow on top. In the wake of the media’s failures, they’re beginning to pay the price. Boy, are they! The ratings continue to tumble, and many pundits appear gobsmacked by all this. They also seem utterly confused as to how to get those ratings back.
This writer has a suggestion for them. It’s straightforward. STOP THE NORMALIZATION. The media normalized EVERYTHING. They desensitized voters to a horrific reality, the reality being Donald John Trump.
Trump is not normal has never BEEN normal, and will never BE normal. He is an abnormal cell, a thick inky smear on white paper, a ten-headed monster; he is the Medusa of politics. But one would never have known that from the cheerful and chipper coverage, many in the media gave him. Now they got their wish—Trump won! But they didn’t. With Trump’s win, a disgusted and infuriated audience took off and didn’t look back.
To get eyes back on the screens, the media must prove their worth and gain our trust back. I personally hold out little hope that they can do it. Honestly, I am not even sure if they understand why people have tuned out in the first place.
People have tuned out because they are tired—sick and bloody tired of the normalization of a madman. This writer watched the election coverage quite closely. Want to know what I saw? I saw a media on MAGA steroids. I saw awe-stricken comments like this winner; Young men LOVE Trump.
The media gave people permission to worship at his alter. Go ahead, their message was. Love him. Vote for him. But — but — but Kamala…..
The media tore her apart, everything from her wardrobe choices to the content of her interviews to her laugh. On and on they went, frenzied, out of control, hyper little gnomes who refused to shut up and LISTEN to what their audience wanted.
Now they find themselves adrift. Their audiences ran, deserted them, threw up their hands, and said NO MORE. It is up to them to PROVE their worth. They must show the American people that they realize the danger of this monster; they must stop the relentless normalization that GAVE Trump this election.
