Blithering morons
Donald Trump is already showing how he’s going to do things. He wants to bypass Senate confirmations and simply put his people in place. You would too if you have nominated such a crazy group of people. Matt Gaetz’s own hometown newspaper doesn’t want him to serve as attorney general, which says a lot. Believe it or not, he’s not the worst of the crew. That honor goes to Vivek Ramaswamy and RFK, Jr. According to Daily Beast, Ramaswamy wants to “delete” entire government agencies, which invariably means that people will lose their jobs. So much for Trump’s pledge to improve the economy. Ramaswamy laid out his plans with Maria Bartiromo on Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures.
Ramaswamy said that there are “too many government employees.” Specifically, he said: “There’s just too many of them. We don’t need four million. We shouldn’t have four million civil servants who can’t be elected or can’t be removed from their positions.” The first one they’re going after is the Department of Education. According to Ramaswamy, it’s a useless department that “shouldn’t even exist,” opining that the states would do a better job. Keep in mind that while Ramaswamy is talking about all these cuts, he and Elon Musk are heading up a department that didn’t even exist before, so they’re part of the waste. According to Knewz, some departments in danger of being cut include Veterans’ Health Care, NASA, the International Space Station, and the Head Start program. Ramaswamy said: “If it doesn’t advance the interests of American citizens, we’re putting it on the chopping block.” Veterans’ health isn’t an interest of American citizens? What about Head Start? Then, there’s RFK, Jr. Where to even start with him?
To quote Barney Fife from Andy Griffin: “He’s a nut.” Of all the people in the world, what is Trump thinking putting this guy in charge of health? He even has his own slogan: “Make America Healthy Again.” More like “let Covid run rampant again.” This is the guy who doesn’t believe in vaccines, even though he is old enough to remember when they were required before your children could be enrolled in school. Kennedy is, of course, playing that down. Instead, he’s focused on chemicals in food. He advocates limiting access to soda and processed foods in school lunches, which isn’t a bad idea. Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the CDC, confirmed that Kennedy is merely covering up the vaccine issue. Osterholm said: “I can’t imagine anyone who would be more damaging to vaccines and the use of vaccines than RFK.”
Approximately one month ago, Kennedy wrote a piece for the Wall Street Journal about his desire to “reform” the FDA, and he has put the spotlight on obesity, diabetes, autoimmune conditions, cancer, and addiction. As part of his reform, Kennedy wants to cap drug prices to what they are in Europe. Now, when he talks like this, Kennedy sounds like he has sense, but we’ve heard stories about worms in his brain and standing up a dead bear. The Food and Drug Administration is rightfully concerned about Kennedy, as Health Brief reported that he has been antagonizing them for some time. We’ll see how all this turns out.
