Despite the recent electoral successes for Donald Trump and his allies, there’s one MAGA character who is continuing to forge his own path of self-destruction, as he still has not figured out how to stop circling the drain. Once hailed as “America’s mayor,” Rudy Giuliani is facing new serious legal and financial problems.

Giuliani’s attorneys just filed a motion to withdraw from representing him in the defamation lawsuit brought by Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, claiming Giuliani’s baseless claims of election fraud in 2020 harmed them. Although the exact reason is under seal, the lawyers cited a “fundamental breakdown” in their relationship with Giuliani, who is facing an inability to pay.

This latest setback for someone who has proven himself to be among Donald Trump’s creepiest and most pathetic sycophants follows a desperate attempt to beg the public for help. Giuliani recently launched a fundraising campaign on GiveSendGo, pleading for funds to cover legal expenses and even basic expenses. “I can’t buy food,” Giuliani claimed following several asset seizures.

These asset seizures stem from Giuliani’s need to satisfy the $148+ million defamation judgment awarded to Freeman and Moss. He has had to surrender his $5 million Upper East Side apartment, a vintage 1980 Mercedes-Benz, and a range of prized memorabilia he amassed over his lifetime.

The recent red wave and MAGA fever appears to have passed by Giuliani without any signs of rescue. As a new Trump train leaves the station, a defeated Giuliani is left groveling alone on the bare tracks. The downward spiral of Giuliani’s life should stand as a flashing warning sign to anyone considering selling their soul and spine to Trump in his second term. If what’s past is prologue, we will see more stories like Giuliani’s play out over the next four years.
