The worst part of this nightmare
The worst part of this election is that this nightmare was supposed to be OVER. But now we see that the nightmare is here to stay. Putin has fully taken control of global rightwing extremism and billionaires. We thought America had cracked the code, winning and overperforming in every election since 2016. Even though we now know it was closer than initially thought, with the assist from tech billionaire controlled corporate media and Russian interference, they bullied us into forcing Biden out and let the sexism card sway the results again.
Putin has been doing this all over the world for over a decade, most recently in Venezuela and Georgia. Yes, it’s shocking that our defenses against Russia were down again. I’m pissed off and I’ll never get over it, just like I’ll never get over 2016. Women and the climate are the biggest victims once again. Republicans are to blame. They’ve been working at this for decades. They have never been motivated by helping Americans. They are only motivated by power and control.
But we are a two-party democracy. Republicans are flexing now, but this election was NOT the mandate they claim it was. They have always used bluster to try to convince Americans they can do more than they really can. Yes, it’s going to be horrific. Worse than last time. But I take some comfort in the fact that we had four glorious years of Biden and that we have won unprecedented midterm and special elections since 2016. Imagine if we had not. All of that has given Democrats field position.
Democrats still have a lot of power. We must fight to stay in the game until the next midterm elections. Yes, the nightmare is here to stay. But so are we.
