This is the Kamala Harris show now
Kamala Harris, fresh off her widely lauded performance on Saturday Night Live, spent Sunday holding a series of high energy swing state rallies as last minute polling and early voting data continued to trend her way. It was, simply put, the Kamala Harris show.
Meanwhile her opponent got confused about what state he was in, promoted the wrong senate candidate, openly fantasized about the reporters at his rally getting shot, and rambled with all the energy of a corpse as his own confused supporters headed for the exits.
Right wing bottom feeders being proud of their own awfulness will always be a thing. But the Trump movement, as a viable political entity, is over. Trump himself is completely out of gas – physically, mentally, and cognitively. But so is his movement. His own supporters are showing up to his hate rallies in smaller and smaller numbers. They seem almost embarrassed to have to sit through his senile rambling. He’s a punchline, they’re a punchline, and it’s all ending with a whimper.
But as big of a deal as the end of Trump is, it’s starting to feel like the rise of Kamala Harris is an even bigger story in its own right. This is an election to decide whether a villain who’s been on the political stage for a decade gets to become emperor or goes to prison. Yet Kamala is coming into her own so firmly down the stretch, it feels like once she wins, Trump and Trumpism will be an afterthought and this will be a new American era. Let’s spend these final two days rounding up more votes and making absolutely sure she wins. We’ll be forever glad we did.
