We are truly in the final stretch, and the media seems hell bent on scaring us into believing Vice President Kamala Harris will not prevail. We’re not going to fall for their negativity. You know why? Because we have faith. We have faith in the good of most Americans. Americans want good for themselves, but more importantly, we want good for others. If we can’t have faith that good will prevail over evil on November 5, then we don’t have enough faith. Evidence of this is everywhere. The L.A. Times decided to share some of their letters with us, and they are the kinds of letters we need to read right now.

One is from a “military brat,” as she calls herself. Both her father and grandfather fought in World War II. Her father relied on the integrity of his commander in chief. Because of the comments made by former Trump military leaders, she said: “When military leaders can no longer remain silent, it’s because they’ve chosen to put their allegiance to the United States and Constitution above a danger to our country. We must listen to what they are telling us.”

Another, a teacher, wrote: “I cannot fathom how so many of my fellow citizens have turned a blind eye to what should be their first priority in this election: fealty to our democratic ideals.” A third writer wrote: “If we lose this election to Trump, it will be caused by our arrogance and willful ignorance. I hope we don’t, and I hope we learn.” Finally: “When a retired general tells us that Trump wished he had Hitler’s generals, we should all shudder.”

These are truths that many of us have spoken and that we believe. We have good reasons to believe them. Everything Trump has ever done has been bad for our country, both home and abroad. He should not be “rewarded” for his bad behavior with another opportunity to do even more damage. He makes threats, and calls names, and he makes talking points that his supporters love, but he has no intention of doing those things. Take his claims of mass deportation for example. He has not uttered one plan to pull this off. That’s because there is no plausible way to deport millions of people. According to Salon, the mass deportation of one million people can cost $88 billion per year. Who’s paying for that? Not to mention that such an action would also have economic ramifications. He would do so much harm to our still recovering economy. In fact, Salon predicts that he would have to “borrow” funds from social security and Medicare. When voters do find out how this will work, they have soured on the idea.

Conversely, VP Harris has been an integral part of a successful administration that boasts a 50-year low in unemployment, record high job creation, small business growth, and healthcare. She wants to create opportunities not to kick people out of the country who are helping the economy. There is a better way to handle illegal immigration, and Harris has ideas. She is what’s best for this country.
