Score another one for Kamala Harris
Kamala Harris spent Tuesday in Washington, DC, taking on her typical duties as vice president – taking calls and meeting with staffers, but in the evening she did a decent amount of media coverage while President Obama and Tim Walz stumped for her on the campaign trail in the swing states of Wisconsin and Michigan – with interviews for both Telemundo and NBC, where she sat down with Hallie Jackson. Each her interviews has gone better than the one before it – with the Fox News sitdown surprising a lot of viewers on both sides of the political aisle, but she was truly at the top of her game on Tuesday night when she answered questions.
Jackson talked at length about the topics of healthcare and the question of Donald Trump – also giving a fairly thorough interview and treating both with the nuance they deserve. The vice president clearly put the blame on Trump and his Supreme Court making the decision that he now pretends everyone supports: “Let’s just start with a fundamental fact, a basic freedom has been taken from the women of America: the freedom to make decisions about their own body. And that cannot be negotiable, which is that we need to put back in the protections of Roe v Wade. And that is it.”
As much as the GOP may have come to regret the Dobbs decision in the end, the fact is that there’s no going back for them and they know it – regardless of what concessions they might make and what Jackson proposed in the interview and Kamala Harris made clear that this is an issue that’s non-negotiable. This is why we need to run up the score and get her elected on Nov 5 with a Democratic trifecta.
