Liars and thieves
The theme of lies runs continuously throughout Donald Trump’s campaign, and on the most recent lie, Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign team put him on blast. While speaking in Pennsylvania last week, Trump inadvertently told the crowd how he really feels about the workers he claims to support. As MSNBC pointed out, he usually begins these lies with: “I shouldn’t say this, but….” That’s a sign that he’s about to lie about something or admit something he shouldn’t have admitted. In this case, he admitted that he hated paying overtime to workers. Keep in mind this is the guy who cries “no tax on tips, no tax on social security,” and “I’m for the worker.” He does not care about workers. He told the people in PA that he, in fact, hated paying overtime so much that he would replace his workers with others instead of paying out the overtime. He even used his favorite phrase: “I shouldn’t say this, but I’d get other people in. I wouldn’t pay.”
When will people get that Trump is a shyster? He says one thing, but he does the exact opposite. They’re either not listening or don’t want to face the truth that their guy is not for them but against them. What’s also interesting is that MSNBC said this falls right in line with Project 2025, which, if put into place, will limit workers’ access to overtime pay. This is despicable. Sarafina Chitika, Harris-Walz spokesperson, heard it loud and clear and called Trump a scab. In part, she wrote: “He is selling snake oil of lies in a desperate attempt to trick voters.” That’s exactly what he’s doing, and many of them continue to fall victim to the snake oil. It seems that all Republican voters fall for it. While MSNBC was busy busting Trump, the Daily Beast took a swipe at Ted Cruz.
Cruz is in a literal fight for his political life, as Democrat Colin Allred is on his tail. According to the Beast, Cruz said that he’s “a bipartisan champion of reaching across the aisle.” Talk about laughable. Cruz told Politico: “What is new is not that I’m passing bipartisan legislation that helps produce jobs in Texas, I’ve been doing that since the day I arrived in the Senate. What is new is we’re finally getting the press to report on it.” Liar. As the Beast wrote, Cruz is so partisan that many of his own Republican colleagues despise him. While Politico listed his bipartisan achievements, it also listed his failures to participate in the CHIPS and Science Act and the Safer Communities Act. Cruz was also one of the most vocal in opposition of the bipartisan border bill. He had the nerve to say: “the Democrats deliberately want this border crisis to continue,” which makes no sense. Republicans, not Democrats, tanked the bill. The Lugar Center and Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy measures how bipartisan members of Congress are and assigns a ranking based on their cosignatories to bills introduced by the other party. Cruz is ranked 89 out of 98 senators. Oh, yeah. He’s the epitome of bipartisanship.
