Kamala Harris finally got her opportunity to debate Donald Trump, and it wasn’t pretty—for Trump. We can’t be sure whether Harris followed the advice of her debate team or whether she came up with it on her own, but she continuously gave the old one-two punch to Trump. In fact, after a few minutes, you could tell that Trump was seething. Harris strode across that stage like she owned it. She walked straight up to Trump and stuck out her hand and said: “Kamala Harris.” Reports are that Trump said: “Have fun.” It seems to me that she did. As many predicted, she chewed him up and spit him out.

Personally, I believe the way she walked up to Trump unnerved him from the beginning. First, he’s a germaphobe, and second, she’s a woman—a Black woman at that. She went on from there to hit him in every weak spot. She was like a boxer who found a vulnerable shot and kept beating in the same spot until the opponent went down. Harris was able to capitalize on Trump’s weaknesses. He was on the defensive for most of the debate as she continued to hammer him. When he opened the door, she was able to mention all his crimes. You could almost see him shrinking. One outlet showed a photo of Matt Gaetz and Steven Miller leaving, and they looked mighty dejected. None of them is a match for Kamala Harris. Following the debate, Trump visited the Spin Room, where he lied that he won the debate. Funny, everyone else seems to disagree. In fact, Esquire published a piece called: “You Know It’s Bad When The Candidate Hit The Spin Room After a Debate.”

Donald Trump could talk until he’s blue in the face, and he will always be extremely unlikeable. Harris, on the other hand, improved her likeability. According to CNN, her favorability rating rose from 39-41% to 45%. She was forceful, yet kind, and when the discussion turned to abortion, she made the killing blow. She told personal, poignant stories of women with whom she has spoken, bringing to light even more that abortion is a personal decision between a woman and her doctor, and no one else has the right to interfere. Harris also made it clear that her focus is on the middle class.

Even though Harris had already taken Trump to the mat, he took one more blow later. Pop/country artist Taylor Swift formally endorsed Harris to her 28 million plus followers. She wrote in part: “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.” She signed her endorsement with: “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady.”

Harris will do that and more. She is clearly the better candidate. She baited and trapped Trump like a rat. Kamala Harris came across as the most presidential of the two. Sure, her debate team did a great job, but the rest was pure Kamala Harris. Again, this is Kamala Harris’s time. Let’s put her in the White House.
