After Kamala Harris dominated in Tuesday night’s debate, she got even more good news with the ringing endorsement of pop star Taylor Swift. It wasn’t particularly a surprise, as she endorsed Joe Biden in the last cycle and came out swinging in support of the Democrats during Donald Trump’s 2018 midterm. It is pivotal in the sense that a few celebrities have withheld endorsements of anyone in 2024 and the GOP was hoping that Swift would follow suit. Instead, she used her sizable Instagram platform with 208 million followers to condemn the divisive remarks made by Vance about childless cat ladies and offered a link for potential voters to both get registered and check their registration status.

Since her endorsement, the worst is quickly becoming reality for the GOP, with over 300,000 users clicking on the registration link within the first 12 hours. It’s not clear how many people have registered through the site in the less than 24 hour period since her endorsement, but when she posted a similar Instagram story last year to encourage her fans to vote, the result was 35,000 newly registered voters, the highest number of new voters since 2020 – in what was expected by most people to be a low turnout, off-year election.

Her endorsement is also noteworthy in the way it spoke to young people who might have concerns about the rise of AI technology, and she specifically called out a deep fake that made it appear as if she was endorsing the former guy. We’re getting significantly stronger in what is a significant week of the campaign – particularly with early voting about to begin in a number of states. Let’s run up the score and double our efforts as we take this election over the finish line and elect Kamala Harris to be the next president of the United States with a Democratic trifecta on Nov 5.
