When your most ardent cheerleaders during and following the debate are desperately trying to turn the whole thing into another narrative about biased moderators (the ones who mostly just stopped things to point out basic facts like no one’s eating pets in Ohio and executing newborn babies is illegal in every state), it’s fair to say that you probably lost that debate. In the lead up to the debate, the cynical consensus among most pundits was that both Trump and Harris supporters would say that their side won and not many people would be moved by this debate. It was worse – for anyone who’s a supporter of Donald Trump.

If you were to guess how uncomfortably the night went, earlier on debate night, Palmer Report predicted that Fox News, the station that declared a blinking, mumbling George W. Bush the winner of his first presidential debate against John Kerry, would be the only network that would be sympathetic to the former guy having a bad night. It turns out Trump’s performance was so terrible – unfocused and undisciplined, that even Fox News turned against him, with even his most die-hard defenders like Laura Ingraham and Jesse Watters acknowledging that Donald Trump was easily baited and did pretty much everything his own campaign advised him against doing, while missing a number of opportunities to talk about the issues he’s perceived as strongest on.

Donald Trump really needed a solid win on Tuesday to revitalize his farce of a campaign and push ahead, but unfortunately, he’s saddled with a campaign that’s intended to do exactly the opposite of that. A number of Fox News commentators even went so far as to say Kamala Harris had a good night – and this will be the narrative for the next few days to come. This gives us a lot of talking points for the final days of this election, and a good opportunity to run up the score as early voting begins – by volunteering, canvassing, phone banking – doing all in your power to get Kamala Harris elected on Nov 5 with a Democratic trifecta.
