Donald Trump’s late night insanity
In endorsing Kamala Harris for president, Liz Cheney gave life to her statement: “I will do everything I can to make sure [Trump] is never anywhere near the Oval Office again.” In response to Cheney’s declaration, Fox reported that the Trump campaign team posted an interview of Cheney on Fox criticizing Harris. She was quoted as saying: “Her voting record in the Senate is to the left of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. It’s very clear, she is a radical liberal.” When we are faced with painful truths, we are allowed to change our minds. That video was before the January 6 insurrection, which changed many people’s minds, including Cheney’s. Trump did irreparable damage to this country, and people with any sense can see that.
Cheney is now exchanging words with Nikki Haley for Haley’s endorsement of Trump. Cheney said that Haley’s decision wasn’t based on principle. Haley appeared on “Fox and Friends” to defend her position. According to Haley: “This is about my family. This is about America. These are about issues. We should be very clear. If you don’t like him, say you don’t like him, but you can’t say that his policies are worse than Kamala Harris’. That’s just not a fact.” Haley obviously drank the Kool-Aid. Trump has no policies. He never did. What he is good at is riling people up and causing trouble. Nothing has changed about him, and Republicans like Haley are simply trying to save face because they allowed a lunatic to run their party.
As a glaring example of Trump’s insanity, Salon magazine reported on his “late-night Truth Social meltdown,” calling it “voter suppression at the highest order.” Trump has made it painfully clear that he intends to weaponize the DOJ to go after his political enemies “to the fullest extent of the law” if he wins the White House. Trump is looking for revenge for things he did to himself. He committed the fraud of which he was found guilty, he took documents to his home that he had no business taking, and he certainly tried to overturn the 2020 election. Trump’s greatest enemy is Trump.
He went on in his senseless post to talk about “illegal voters” and election officials. In other words, he will go after everyone if he doesn’t win. His claims about the 2020 election were all proven false, as will be any claims about the 2024 election. He is preparing to dispute the outcome if he loses and is setting the stage to renew his claims of fraud. Heaven forbids he just doesn’t get enough votes like last time. You would think the other Republicans would stand up to him, but they won’t. When the media asked North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum about the post, he responded that Harris’s campaign could have easily done the same, as we all want free and fair elections. That’s what you call a copout. Yes, we want free and fair elections, but we go about it differently. We choose optimism over pessimism, we choose joy over hatefulness, we choose love over hate.
