Sit this one out Donald
Not everyone took Labor Day as a day to relax. Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris started the day out in Detroit and joined President Biden in Pittsburgh later in the day. Donald Trump was nowhere to be seen, so he apparently took advantage of the Labor Day holiday to do nothing, which is what he does every day of every week. For the Harris campaign, however, it was a day spent with labor. She gave a short speech in Detroit and then personally greeted the workers. She is careful to remind people not to put too much stock in the polls, as her campaign is still the underdog. That signaled to everyone that even though things look and feel good, we need to keep working to get her into the White House.
Inevitably, when the Harris campaign is discussed, the others come up. The New York Times reported on the campaign trail, talking with people along the way. They spoke with Randi Weingarten, who is the president of the American Federation of Teachers. She is livid with JD Vance’s claims about childless teachers, intimating that they are “brainwashing” the children for whom they bear the responsibility of teaching. Weingarten said: “How dare he at the beginning of the school year? Every parent in America and every teacher in America knows that right now is that moment that you to try ensure that kids have a welcoming, safe environment and that they’re engaged in school.” JD Vance is too young to call a “bitter old man,” but there’s certainly something bitter about him and his feelings about women, especially one woman, Kamala Harris.
Vance has spent his time on the stage lying about Harris, which should come as no surprise since he’s partnered with the biggest liar in the country. Like other Republicans, he continues to refer to her as “America’s border czar,” which was never her role on the border. We have rehashed this claim repeatedly. The point is to show the depths to which Vance and Trump will stoop to try to win this election. The worst part about their quest to capture the White House is that they don’t want to help ordinary people; they are there to help themselves.
We need someone who is committed to making life better for all Americans. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have made that commitment, and they should have the opportunity to honor the promises they’ve made during their campaign. President Biden kept his promises, and there is no doubt that Harris will do the same. Our country, frankly, cannot stand another round of division, mismanagement, and lies. We deserve better. Harris has the necessary experience. In fact, Politico reported that she was directly involved in foreign policy. She also has compassion, and good, workable ideas to move our country in the right direction—forward, not backward. We won’t be putting an inexperienced nitwit in the White House if we choose Harris. Honestly, she is exactly who we need to lead the country at this time in history.
