When I was a little girl, I would wade out into the ocean’s blue waters. Amid the beach laughter, chattering families, crashing waves, I would tilt my head, gather my strength — and then throw a bottle as far as the eye could see and further. You see, I dreamed of someone receiving one of my many messages in a bottle. Who would find it, I pondered. Prince Charming, perhaps.

Children are such dreamers, yes? Now, as an adult, I wonder about ANOTHER message. And if this message was indeed put into a bottle and thrown out to sea, what would it say? “A there-ring circus that’s badly managed.” That is the way the Republican Party is being described. Yes, they’re being compared to a three-ring circus. This is likely because they’re so outlandish, out there, and so wackadoodle that they ARE resembling circus clowns.

The Washington Post reported on Sunday that it is the issue of abortion that’s tearing the GOP, tearing them apart from the inside as their foundation starts to collapse. You see, they are ALL fighting. Nobody, according to the Post, can agree on what to do about abortion. A 15-week ban? A six-week van? No ban? Apparently, different GOP’ers want different things, and they’ve now taken to squabbling as the election and their dignity effortlessly slip through their fingers.

Not helping matters are Turmp and Vance, who have started to change their messaging about abortion regularly. One says this today; then another says another thing tomorrow. A Republican inside named Chuck Coughlin is the one who labeled them “a three-ring circus that’s badly managed.” He added: “It’s just terrible the way they’ve handled the whole thing.”

Indeed it is. And we’ve still got plenty of time to go, which, of course, will mean more time for republican panic, more time for Republicans to contradict each other, shout each other down, change their (Roe) stories, and generally absolutely repel the American people. So, as the weeks fly by, I think of the GOP’s message in a bottle. I believe we’re one to open THEIR message; it just might say: “Help us, we’re losing.”
