Many pundits in Republican circles are complaining about the Democratic National Convention. Now, that in itself is not news because we expected it. I mean, what are they going to say? “Good job, Democrats!” Hardly.

No, it isn’t that they’re complaining. It’s what some of these complaints are based on. Many in GOP-Land say we’re too — happy. I’m serious. Several political pundits on the GOP side have said we’re like “an infomercial,” and some have said we’re “a mess.” Many of these same pundits have asked what all the smiles are about. Republicans are acting disgusted, like such behavior is beneath them, as they try to chip away at our foundation of joy.

It’s a strange thing to be upset about, my friends. Would you not agree? Policies I could understand, but joy? Laughter? The question MUST be asked: why are the GOP so miserable? They are wet blankets, sourpusses, with attitudes that make The Grinch look jolly on his worst days. The GOP never seems to be happy about anything, yes? And that indices EVEN WHEN THEY WIN.

When was the last time you saw Donald Trump laugh or even smile? How about JD Vance, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, or Kari Lake? It’s like they don’t know how. It’s like someone reached out and deftly stole their sunshine, replacing it with the gauzy curtain of night, only with them, it’s dark all the time.

One has to wonder if Republicans were to win again (which they won’t), would even THAT be enough to put the smiles back on their faces, to wipe away the scowls that have appeared, the distressed creases that now line their persons, making it look like they came into the world, mouths puckered in little 0’s of malcontent?

So, of course, when one is UNHAPPY, one wants to bring down anyone who DARES to smile, who DARES to laugh with fluidity, who dares to dream big, dream of hope and happiness and positivity because the GOP does NOT KNOW THE MEANING OF THOSE WORDS.

Cults can indeed suck the soul out of a person, and in this writer’s humble opinion, that is what has happened to the GOP. They came, they saw, but they did not conquer. Instead, they frowned — and ruminated — and scowled — and became sullen, with cult speak sloshing around in their heads and the joys of actually BEING in politics, working for the people, and serving AMERICA completely gone from their memory banks.

It’s like their souls were emptied. Now, they are silent and when they see sunlight, it hurts their eyes, it blinds them, it is anathema to them because they cannot remember what the petals —the delightful rose petals of joy—even feel like.
