When VP Kamala Harris announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate earlier today, the reaction from social media and mainstream media was very positive. But was this merely a matter of trying to put on a unified face, or was the Walz pick truly inspiring?

Now the verdict is in, in terms of people “voting” with their small dollar donations. The Harris-Walz campaign has announced that it’s raised a stunning $20 million in the few hours since the running mate announcement was made. Even half that much would be a record setting day. And for that matter, the day is still ongoing. The number will be much higher than $20 million by the end of the day.

So there you have it. The announcement of Tim Walz has lit a fire under the Democratic Party base and the broader Kamala Harris coalition. Money is pouring into the Harris-Walz campaign, because people are just that excited to get behind this ticket. Now let’s go win this.
