Donald Trump is six weeks from his sentencing hearing in his New York criminal trial with Judge Juan Merchan, where he’s been convicted on thirty-four felonies. But now he has a different legal problem to deal with.

The U.S. Supreme Court has returned its instructions to Judge Tanya Chutkan in Donald Trump’s federal criminal case for trying to overthrow the 2020 election. The Supreme Court’s ruling was a bizarre and inappropriate one. But it merely forces Jack Smith to revise the charges against Trump.

Now that the case is back in the hands of Judge Chutkan, she can (and will) resume pre-trial proceedings in the case. So now Trump will have to deal with being a defendant in this ongoing criminal case during the final hundred days of the election. It’s yet another reminder that if and when Trump loses this election, he’s going to end up in prison afterward. No wonder he’s more out of his mind than ever.
