Since entering the race Kamala Harris has seen historic popular momentum and historic fundraising right out of the gate. But that has to translate to polling as well. We’ve seen Harris climbing incrementally in multiple polls against Trump. But what about favorability rating?

Sure enough, the new IPSOS poll has Kamala Harris’ favorability rating at 43%, which doesn’t sound great until you realize that it’s up eight points from the last the time the poll was conducted. In other words, just by entering the race and having the week that she’s had, Harris has now won over an additional eight percent of Americans. As she continues to make her case around the nation, and as the public truly gets to know her during the Democratic National Convention, her favorability rating should continue to climb.

Meanwhile the same IPSOS poll has Trump’s favorability rating at 36%, down four points since the last time the poll was conducted. This means that the Trump shooting didn’t make him more favorable, and in fact his ridiculous convention antics and his terrible JD Vance pick have made him less popular.

Favorability ratings don’t vote, people do. But this is nonetheless a notable shift in the numbers. It helps quantify that Kamala Harris’ momentum truly is real, and the race truly is shifting, and you’re not just imagining it.
