Judge Aileen Cannon just got it right for once

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Judge Aileen Cannon is equal parts corrupt and incompetent, and she’s clearly been helping Donald Trump to stall his classified documents criminal trial. But in spite of the prevailing narrative that she’s ruling in Trump’s favor every time, the actual pattern is different. She’s been trying to do what she can for Trump without doing so much that she gets removed from the case.

Trump claimed that the Mar-a-Lago search warrant didn’t cover some of the seized items. This would have been a big win for him, as major pieces of evidence against him would have been tossed out. But it also would have been the kind of egregiously wrong ruling that could have prompted the 11th Circuit to remove Cannon from the case.

So perhaps not surprisingly, Cannon ruled against Trump today, meaning that all of the seized evidence will indeed be used against him. Of course she’s still dragging out Trump’s attorney-client privilege claim, so we’ll see if she screws up that ruling and prompts an 11th Circuit intervention.
