Donald Trump’s senility is finally hurting him politically

Now that Donald Trump is a convicted felon, he’s trying desperately to recast himself as a political candidate instead. The trouble: he’s far too deep into dementia to pull it off. He spends his public appearances whining about his felony conviction, thus reminding the general public about it over and over again. Worse for Trump, he keeps reminding everyone that he’s senile.

The question has been when it would finally hurt him politically, given that the media is still dramatically under-reporting and downplaying Trump’s dementia symptoms. But even as the media (on both sides) tries to keep Trump in the game so it can milk 2024 for ratings all the way up to election day, the media can’t cover for Trump when he’s dealing with people directly.

To that end, Trump held a meeting this week with a room full of CEOs, in an attempt at winning them over. But he spent the meeting rambling incoherently in senile fashion. It was so bad that not only did he fail to win over the CEOs, some of them went to the media to talk about just how far gone Trump is. And so now we have CNBC running headlines about how cognitively vacant Trump has become.

Donald Trump’s insistence on continuing to put himself out there is doing more harm than if he were to simply stay home. And now we’re seeing evidence that Trump’s senility is indeed hurting him politically. He clearly wanted the support of those CEOs, and instead he lost them so badly that they decided to sound the alarm about just how senile he is.
