On what will likely be Donald Trump’s final weekend before becoming a convicted felon, it’s fitting that Trump is spending the weekend reminding us of just how lost he is. He held a rally in the Bronx, a place where there’s zero political upside for him, and spent much of the time talking about how he’s a “hot guy” while questioning whether he needs to continue wearing pants.

Trump can, of course, spend this weekend however he likes. After all, he (predictably) stopped violating his gag order just in time to avoid getting locked up for it. But this is it for him. By the end of next week the verdict will likely be in, and it will very likely be a guilty verdict on 34 felony charges. He’ll spend next weekend as a convicted felon.

Even as his sentencing plays out (legal experts are split on whether the felonies in this trial, which are of the lowest level, will result in prison time), we’ll soon get to see how Trump’s status as a convicted felon impacts his poll numbers. After all, large numbers of registered Republicans have told pollsters that they don’t intend to vote for Trump if he’s convicted. And ongoing Republican primary voting continues to point to just how many Republicans are showing up just to cast protest votes against Trump in the primaries.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s worsening dementia symptoms aren’t going away. He’s about to limp into this summer’s Republican National Convention as a senile convicted felon who can’t put a sentence together and might be wearing an ankle bracelet. Good luck on that front. As rough as this weekend is going for Trump, it might be the least bad weekend he has left.
