Judge Merchan just put Donald Trump’s idiotic defense witness Robert Costello in his place

When Donald Trump’s defense attorneys announced that they were calling Robert Costello to the stand, we wrote that they were jumping the shark. After all, this was the witness that Trump sent to spew wacky conspiracy theories to the grand jury awhile back. This was going to be no less of a clown show today.

Sure enough, Costello’s testimony is far enough off the rails that Judge Merchan has had to interject multiple times. Worse, Costello has been responding to the judge’s rulings by saying things like “geez” and rolling his eyes.

It’s gotten bad enough that the judge sent the jury out and proceeded to rip into Costello over his behavior. This is surreal. It was an idiotic decision for Trump’s attorneys to call this witness, and now he’s showing everyone why.

Keep in mind that this kind of stunt doesn’t help Trump in any way. If anything Costello’s antics are going to turn the jury off, and lead jurors to conclude that Trump has no defense at all.
