Donald Trump’s disastrous campaign screw-up
Among one of Donald Trump’s most disastrous screwups on the campaign (one that doesn’t get nearly as much coverage as it should) – aside from his persistent belief that he is actually running against not Joe Biden but Barack Obama, is his insistence on repealing President Obama’s signature accomplishment, the Affordable Care Act.
This was, of course, Donald Trump’s top priority as president, and he was determined to get it through with or without Congress, but something else happened. The Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, saw a sudden groundswell of popularity – even with – or especially with, a number of conservatives who wanted to see it repealed before Donald Trump was elected.
There wasn’t much attention paid to the policy during the 2016 election, but now the Biden campaign is actually centering an arm of the campaign around protecting Obamacare, with a chapter called Healthcare Providers for Biden-Harris. Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals are championing the effort – emphasizing that the former guy has made no secret of his plans to boot over ten million Americans off their current healthcare plan if he’s elected, whereas a second Biden administration would only strengthen current protections and access.
The Affordable Care Act, like just about every major legislative accomplishment of the last 100 years, is on the chopping block should Republicans gain power again, and that is why we must work to defeat them on Nov 5 by flipping the House, keeping the Senate and re-electing President Biden.
