Donald Trump suffers double loss in court
In a sign of just how badly Donald Trump is steering his defense team astray, today they asked the judge for two things, both of them objectively nuts. First, they asked for a mistrial based on how poorly their cross examination of Stormy Daniels went. Second, they asked for Trump to be exempted from his gag order so he could publicly attack Daniels.
You can guess just how poorly these two requests went. Given that this is the second time they’ve asked for a mistrial based on the same thing, that was never going to fly. And asking for a gag order to be lifted mid-trial is… well, it’s beyond silly. In the least surprising news of the day, the judge promptly denied both requests.
Donald Trump has his attorneys doing remarkably stupid and self defeating things in this trial. The longer the trial goes on, and the more agitated he gets about having to sit in the courtroom, the more he seems to be steering his team toward certain defeat. So be it.
