Why it’s such a big deal that Stormy Daniels’ OTHER former attorney is taking the stand in Trump’s criminal trial
We’ve all seen Stormy Daniels’ disgraced former attorney Michael Avenatti trying to draw attention to himself from his prison cell of late, by saying absurd things about Donald Trump’s current criminal trial. Avenatti is a red herring at this point, best ignored. But Daniels’ other former attorney, Keith Davidson, is indeed a major part of this story – and today he’s taking the stand for the prosecution.
Davidson represented Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal with regard to the affairs that they had with Donald Trump. Now he’s taking the stand today, and that’s important because he can (and will) corroborate everything that Daniels and McDougal are going to end up saying in their own testimony.
In a trial like this one, corroboration matters greatly. For instance a jury might not be inclined to take a convicted felon like Michael Cohen at his word, or take an all around scumbag like David Pecker at his word. But when Cohen and Pecker give the same testimony about the same events, the jury doesn’t have to worry about such things.
The same goes for Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. If a jury member is a prude and doesn’t want to believe them because of their lines of work (or a sexist who doesn’t believe women, or some other hypothetical), that ends up not mattering because their former attorney is there to corroborate it all.
We’ll see if Keith Davidson’s testimony today ends up being a bombshell or merely informational. But either way it’s important because of how much it’ll end up bolstering the witnesses who follow him.
