Criminal referral made in Sarah Huckabee Sanders lecterngate scandal
How has Sarah Huckabee Sanders fared as Governor or Arkansas? Let’s just say that she’s doing about as well as one might have expected her to do in that position. She’s quickly gotten herself into a corruption scandal in which she appears to have spent state funds on her friends and then falsified the purchase of an expensive lectern in order to try to cover it up.
The key to a corrupt act like this is to do it in such a way that no one catches on or knows it happened. But Sarah Huckabee Sanders is whatever the opposite of smart is, and so of course the whole world now knows that she tried to pull a fast one.
In any case state auditors have finished looking into the scandal, and they’ve decided to refer it to state prosecutors as a criminal matter. This doesn’t mean people will end up being indicted. Nor would an indictment against a Republican Governor necessarily get anywhere in a corrupt red state government anyway.
But the point is that Sarah Huckabee Sanders has screwed this up in such hilariously inept fashion, a criminal referral has now been made. It’ll likely only get uglier for her from here.
