Senile Donald Trump doesn’t appear to know that he didn’t actually appeal his fraud verdict

When Donald Trump filed a notice of appeal in his New York civil fraud verdict earlier this week but didn’t post bond to keep the verdict from being enforced, it didn’t add up. There was no point to such an “appeal.” The doomsday types told us that it must be because Trump had indeed come up with the bond money. I said that it was more likely a matter of a senile Trump insisting that his lawyers file the empty appeal, without understanding that it wasn’t actually anything, and his lawyers deciding to just give him what he wanted.

Then on Wednesday he was forced to admit to the courts that he’s too broke to cover the bond. In other words it’s not a real appeal. But does Trump know that? On Wednesday night he began ranting and raving on social media about how unfair the New York fraud verdict is against him, before adding “We will continue to appeal until Justice prevails!”

Well okay, but he’s not actually appealing to begin with. The process of seizing his assets will begin thirty days after the verdict came down, which is a lot less than thirty days by now. There’s no possible way that Trump’s appeal will be heard and settled by then. So his assets are now on track to be taken, even while Trump thinks he’s “appealing.”

This can only be explained by Trump’s worsening senility. He’s too far gone to understand what “appealing” does and doesn’t mean. He has no knowledge or understanding of what’s going on with the legal process. He thinks he’s actually appealing the verdict. That’s cute. It’s also sad. But it’s yet another instance of Trump’s worsening senility working in our favor.
